Losing someone.
Very little has to be decided now. When you're ready, we'll sit down with you and go through everything, one item at a time.

Most things can wait.
Only a handful of things have deadlines. Almost everything else can wait, and the big decisions made in the first months are the ones people most often regret.
We'll make a list, deal with what's urgent, and leave the rest until you're ready.

Three dates that matter.
Register the death within five days, in England and Wales.
Pay any inheritance tax by the end of the sixth month after the month of death.
Make any deed of variation within two years of the death.
One step at a time.
The first weeks.
The first months.
The first year.
Afterwards.
What clients ask us first.

What has to happen now?+
Very little. Register the death, find the will and let the bank know. The rest can wait until you're ready.
Will I be all right for money?+
We check what income continues, what pensions and life cover pay out, and how long your cash will last, so you know where you stand.
What about probate and inheritance tax?+
Any inheritance tax is usually due six months after the end of the month of death. We work with the executors and solicitor to meet it.
Can an inheritance be redirected?+
Yes. A deed of variation, made within two years of the death, can pass an inheritance on and sometimes save tax. There is time to think.
Grief doesn't run on a timetable. Your finances don't have to either.
There’s no rush. Call when it suits you, and we’ll take it from there.
